R&J’s Winter Wonderland Wedding

February 2020 was GroundLoop Events’ first (and only, so far) wedding of 2020. I had the pleasure of setting of an incredibly gorgeous Gold Lighting Package set up for a lovely Mendocino Coast couple and their family at Crown Hall in Mendocino. (This brilliant and forward thinking pair even thought to bring a big screen for the bar so nobody would miss the big game! How epic is that?!)

Due to the scope of the setup, your friendly neighborhood one woman crew took extra time the night before the big date to set up quite the show for the couple and their guests. Uplights were set along the walls, the Intimidators (moving head spotlights) were placed in the balcony above, and Starbursts atop glowing totems to add an extra punch.

The setup along with Matt Rowland’s draperies, string lighting, and furniture set ups further helped with the truly classy feel of the evening. It was a rare occasion in which the couple wanted to use the stage for their ceremony as well; I found adding uplights among the draperies added a really nice touch, and due to the flexibility of the front of house set up, was easily able to slide the wash lights out from the corner for quick set up after the ceremony was completed to achieve the look.

The food choices were delicious and laid back, and the cake from Sugar Coated Catering looked phenomenal. (Simple can be so gorgeous!)

The happy couple gave plenty of direction for their perfect music choices, and I worked as hard as I could to reflect the vibes they gave me.

Our beautiful wedding day at Crown Hall. DJ 80 (Adie) and Groundloop Entertainment did a fantastic job. All the music from guest arrival all the way through to the last song was orchestrated magnificently. Adie’s attention to our requests and needs was on point. She expertly handled our guest requests wonderfully as well. I would highly recommend Adie for any event large or small. 100% professional.

R&J

I’m so grateful to R&J to have offered me the chance to be a part of their incredible family and memorable evening. I wish them the greatest of futures and many wonderful adventures together!

Please keep an eye on this space and we will update you as soon as anything changes.

Buy gift certificates (I offer these). Like and share pages and posts, and if you have friends needing future services, tell them about us! Please help us survive this very challenging time so that we can still supply amazing services in our communities when our businesses finally get to reopen (far after everyone else gets to go back to work).

Night Bloom Opening Gala

The Redwood Mirror @ the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers 2019

GroundLoop Events was extremely excited in early 2019 when we received a special request – it was amazingly exciting to have the opportunity this November to participate in such a brilliant and unique non-profit fundraising opportunity!

Night Bloom is a specialty exhibit showcase created by the Conservatory (with the help of amazing companies and collaborations like with Hybycozo!) that happens just once a year in the winter time – this year it was from November 22nd to January 5th. For this special event, the Conservatory is filled with gorgeous LED lighting and opened at night, so that you can explore this incredible collection of breathtaking plant life in a whole new way. There are also plenty of other fun things to do outside of the exhibit – lovely local catering companies, glow toys, the gorgeous garden fairies strolling about, and, oh yes, the Redwood Mirror for the Opening Night Celebration!

How gorgeous is this?! Even without specialty lighting, add the Conservatory to your list the next time you head into San Francisco! You will be blown away!

While we were there for work, I did get the opportunity to sneak into the exhibit for an awe inspiring stroll before closing time (thanks to my assistant Sarah). It sends shivers down your spine (and brought a few tears to my eyes!). I love the opportunity to support such incredible causes as the one that the Conservatory shares – and proceeds from events such as Night Bloom along with donations made go towards that cause. I highly recommend checking out their website for more info, popping into the Conservatory to see and learn about these gorgeous plants when you’re in San Francisco next, AND searching up #nightbloom the next time you’re scrolling through Instagram to learn more!

Especially later in the evening, everybody was super psyched to try out our interactive Redwood Mirror! Super fun!
The Conservatory decided to go a step above – instead of using one of our preowned backdrops, we special ordered one for them. It’s a beautiful image of the Conservatory at the Night Bloom event in 2018 – it made a dramatic and GORGEOUS background image for our guests to take their photos in front of. And after the night was done… we left it with the Conservatory staff (and gifted them the frame as a thank you!) so they could continue to use it for future events down the road! How cool is that?!
After matching our overlay to the color scheme the Conservatory staff chose for the season, we went one step further. We surprised the staff by offering multiple options for their guests to choose from! A single portrait orientation, triple print, 2×6 triple photo strips, AND a specially designed Magazine Cover! We also bought some super cool, high quality (and very lifelike!) silk exotic flowers for specialty props for the event, to help support the cause for the evening!
Our props table for the evening – check out those specialty floral props. AND that gorgeous Hybycozo lit sculpture in the background!
How cool is that magazine cover?!
Just a couple of the gorgeous fairies we met that night floating around the garden – they were SO friendly!
We couldn’t end the night without a selfie! It was such a fun and memorable event – thanks SO much to the Conservatory for inviting us to take part! We hope to have the opportunity to come back and work with them again for events in the future!

Thanks SO much for checking out our blog and our photos! For more info about us, please visit us online at www.groundloopevents.com and find us on Instagram @groundloopevents and @redwoodmirror – you can find booking info for our Redwood Mirror & Mini by visiting us at booking.redwoodmirror.com. Please follow us for future events, and share us with your friends that would love a super special interactive experience to their next event! Thanks SO much!

Outdoor teeter totters by LED light were just the icing on one sweet, sweet experience! Make sure to add it to your holiday traditions for 2020 and beyond!

An Interactive Holiday Extravaganza!

GroundLoop Events @ the Festival Of Lights 2019
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

In December, DJ 80 and GroundLoop was excited to have had the opportunity to participate in the Festival of Lights event at the Botanical Gardens. We had the means this year to be one of the Festival’s Evergreen sponsors, and participate in a fun and interactive evening of music, singing, and community! GroundLoop donated our services for a fun karaoke experience, and was excited to share our Redwood Mirror & Redwood Mini booths as well.

Getting ready for the show!

It was a whole lot of fun, and in support of a great cause. Here’s hoping for a repeat in 2020…. holiday events can be such an incredible time!

Merry Christmas 2019 from the Redwood Mirror! http://www.redwoodmirror.com

S&F’s Super Classy Fall Wedding

Silver + Ceremony & Redwood Mini at Heritage House in Little River, CA

In November, GroundLoop was excited to have hosted our very first Heritage House wedding in Little River. While it was overcast that day, we were incredibly lucky to have had the rain wait until after the equipment was all packed up (after the ceremony) to start! The ceremony was small and really special. It got me in all the feel good places as this was not only a blending of two lives, but a blending of two whole families. I absolutely loved that the vows also included special vows made to each other’s children as well. What a unique and wonderful addition to the solemnity of the day! The point was a breathtaking spot, and Rosa Wyglendowski was spot on as always accenting it with her beautiful flower arrangements.

The wedding reception inside at Heritage House was small and cozy. The evening was very laid back and relaxed, and this close knit family event was beautiful and one I’ll remember for a long time to come! Wishing S&F and their lovely family a wonderful future together!

The guests had a lot of fun later on in the evening with our Redwood Mini booth!

S&I’s Rose Gold Wedding

Gold + Uplights at Vet’s Hall in Fort Bragg, CA

In December of 2019, our last wedding of the year and of the decade (!) was right here in our home town of Fort Bragg, CA – GroundLoop was very excited and honored to be a part of a very special wedding at our Vet’s Hall in downtown Fort Bragg for a young man heading into the Armed Forces, and his sweet and lovely new bride who will be embarking on new adventures right along with him. Sometimes it’s the most beautiful and breathtaking events that occur right here at home! We worked the set up around to fit in between Matt Rowland’s draperies hung around most of the room, and were excited to provide the uplighting that really set off those beautiful gold and lace panels sprinkled between the pink and white. The wedding was short and sweet, and the couple looked stunning with their friends and family all around them. We were also happy to have had DJ Bunky join us as DJ for the evening. All in all, it was an amazing way to end a Mendocino Coast wedding, and enter into the Roaring 20’s. Thanks to S&I and their family for letting us be a part of their tribe for a beautiful evening!

GroundLoop getting ready to go!
Such a sweet ceremony. I had a hard time holding back tears!
Hooray! Congrats to the new Mr & Mrs!
A beautiful First Dance – the bride’s smile says it all!
The Hall had a little trouble with one of their ceiling lights – the one right over our wedding cake! BUT with some quick thinking, GroundLoop made it work using our mini uplights on and around the table to create a pretty classy looking glow for the big moment!
Dancing under the Starbursts!
I love this photo – not just from Bunky hard at work, but I love the look on our groom’s face. I feel like I’m being scolded for peeking!
That glowing is totally not just our lights!

An Introduction

Welcome! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to learn more about me and my fantastic and beloved company – GroundLoop Events!

Hi! I’m DJ 80 – I’m the person you talk to when you send us a text, email, or call us on the phone! So glad to meet you!

Let me tell you a bit about myself, and then I’ll introduce you to GroundLoop and the fantastic entertainment services that we can offer to personalize YOUR day!

I’m not a California native. I’ve been living on the Mendocino Coast for 16 years, but I moved to Fort Bragg from Michigan in 2003 right after graduating from high school. I’m a singer and amateur musician – I play flute, bluegrass fiddle, and acoustic guitar. Music is such an important part of my life, that our one big vacation each year (when I’m not available for work – sorry!) is at a music and performance camp in August at the Mendocino Woodlands for Lark Camp.

I volunteer a LOT, with kid related organizations like our local FBUSD Band Boosters, Parents’ Clubs, and our Fort Bragg Mendocino Lions Club (as club secretary) and the teens’ Leos Club (as their co-advisor) as philanthropy is another really important thing in my life. I set up a light show for the Kelley House Museum in Mendocino for their Woodstock 50th Anniversary Event, where I got to showcase DJ Christina from MendoBlendo on KZYX and record the event with my Redwood Mini booth. I’ll be donating my services – DJ and Redwood Mirror – for the first time at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens in December for the Festival of Lights, and I’m excited to be bringing my Redwood Mirror to the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers’ opening Gala for their Night Bloom exhibit later this November. (I can often be found donating or discounting services for non-profit organizations and noble causes that I believe in!)

I’m also a single mom of two wonderful teens, and feeling so fortunate to have the opportunity to be a female DJ & entrepreneur in Mendocino County. My goal is to provide a good life and a great education for my Gen Z kids, and show them that they can make anything of themselves in the world with a lot of hard work, determination, and full support from Mom! 😉

One of my earlier parties back in 2017! A three way birthday party at a private home on Ward Ave. We didn’t leave until nearly 5 am!

Now let me tell you a bit about GroundLoop! GroundLoop came to be in May of 2013. Since I was a teenager I have had a not-so-secret unrequited love for karaoke! My friends and I used to go back in high school, and after relocating to California, I started attending with some close friends (after I was 21, of course!). My friend that used to host suddenly was not doing so anymore, and I got a phone call asking if I would be open to it on a Tuesday afternoon – the day before my daughter’s birthday. My good friend Lavender and I took a crazy midnight drive (well, we got there at midnight!) on Wednesday after celebrating with my little girl to pick up the tiny Behringer mixing board I started with, and my first night was the very next day. I’ve been in that same location at Angelina’s ever since. I have only missed maybe a dozen Thursdays in that whole 6+ years’ time. It was a great opportunity to learn first hand how live sound works. Eventually a couple years in, I decided to try learning to DJ, and added that skill to the services that GroundLoop offers.

Now, over 6 years since that first crazy night, GroundLoop has grown quite a bit! We still host weekly with our friends (check us out on a Thursday night!) but we concentrate on the private arm of our business. Along with offering DJ services, GroundLoop offers two light show package levels; we’re one of the few DJ companies on the coast that offers a full on light show experience. Our Premium package includes Starbursts, spotlights, custom monogram options, and a lighting tech onsite to customize your experience as we go!

In 2019 we have also added more options to your personalized experience, including our Redwood Mirror and Redwood Mini booth rentals, a light show only package option, a sound & light equipment set up (Our “Everything But The Talent” option for out of town DJs – they just plug in and play) — we will be adding even more incredible add on options for 2020 and beyond, including ambient (market) lighting rentals, a dance floor, and wireless and battery operated custom uplighting. After many requests, we will also begin offering a silent disco option, so you can kiss your noise ordinance goodbye! We are proud to say that we carry both DJ & Photobooth insurance, and are licensed in the city of Fort Bragg where we live and work out of. We offer easy to access online contracts and invoices, accept multiple forms of payment, and offer multiple methods of communication to suit our clients’ tastes and make the experience fast and simple as possible!

While GroundLoop started off with just me and my former business partner, I am now excited to say that there is more news on the horizon. As well as DJ 80 (me!), this year DJ Nutrishious and DJ Bunky will also begin to work with us to provide amazing services to Northern California, and Sarah – our new resident photographer who will be assisting with enhancing our Photo Experiences (through the booths and freelance photography!) beginning in 2020. I’m so excited to add these very talented new faces to our team, and continue improving our services so that YOU have the complete event entertainment experience of your dreams!

If you’ve stuck with me through this whole blog post, thank you! I hope that you found learning about me and about GroundLoop a bit of a help in learning about what we can do to provide you with excellent service. If you want to learn more, please visit our website, and I hope that you will subscribe to our blog! I look forward to posting amazing photos and experiences from weddings, fundraisers, and corporate events we’ll be involved in over the coming months, along with sample playlists, tips, tricks, and good information to help you plan your next event quickly and easily. My goal is always to provide my clients with an amazing and smooth experience that allows them to enjoy their day, and receive great feedback from guests for months to come! I would LOVE to speak to you if you have specific needs… my door (and email) are always open!

Thanks for listening! Let’s talk soon!
